Fiddler Big Green Egg Bourbon

Two of your favorite American flavor innovatorsBig Green Egg and ASW Distillery – have joined forces to create an exceptionally unique and delicious Bourbon finished on hand-harvested and toasted Georgia wood, designed for sipping around the fire.

Fiddler Big Green Egg Bourbon starts with ASW Distillery’s famed wheated Bourbon mash bill – its 45% wheat content is more than 2x the wheat of the famous, allocated wheated Bourbons.

This high-wheat profile leads to a sweet, smooth, complex Bourbon that’s matured in the hot, humid Georgia summers, with the final few months of aging on staves of hand-harvested Georgia white oak that ASW’s Master Distiller, J. Manglitz harvests in the North Georgia mountains.

Depending on the release, ASW finishes the oak staves in various ways:

  • Toasting / Indirect Heat: the staves are placed on the Egg and toasted via Indirect Heat for a rich red layer to the oak, that imparts caramel, toffee, and other confectionary notes

  • Charring / Direct Heat: the staves are exposed to Direct Heat immediately above the fire, resulting in charred staves that impart smoke, maple, body, and other qualities

ASW adds the staves to barrels of its famed high-wheat bourbon and, as the months roll by, selects barrels for each release that provide a unique flavor profile. No two releases are like, making for a great addition to your collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • After our initial Georgia release, bottles will begin to become available at package stores throughout Georgia, Florida, and beyond in July 2025.

  • We will be expanding the states in which Fiddler Big Green Egg is available over the coming months. Feel free to sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of the page to learn about where it will be available next.

  • We are not permitted to ship our spirits. It may be available on other sites.

  • We bottle the bourbon at Cask Strength (the proof at which it comes out of the barrel) to preserve the maximum amount of flavor. Releases typically clock in around 115 proof.

  • Fiddler Big Green Egg Bourbon is a wheated bourbon that we triple-oak, including the final few months finished on staves of Georgia-grown white oak that we harvest and hand-toast and/or hand-char on a Big Green Egg using a proprietary charcoal blend.

The result is an exceptional pour, one both unique and an exemplary specimen of the American art form known as bourbon.

  • Bourbon must, by law, be distilled from at least 51% corn. Corn is a relatively neutral grain, so bourbons get the majority of their flavor from the second most prominent grain (along with the barrel in which it is aged).

With most bourbons, the second grain is rye, an earthy grain that imparts spiciness and the distinctive “bourbon” aroma.

A handful of the most sought-after bourbons in the world use wheat as the second grain. Wheat is known for imparting more softness and sweetness, leading to a more caramel-forward profile.
